Join the Better Living Foundation Team

Whatever your skills, availability, or experience, there is a place for you at Better Living Foundation.

The Better Living Foundation is built on more than reclaimed materials — it is built on people. While some volunteers bring trade skills and hands-on experience, many of the most important roles have nothing to do with tools at all.

Not handy with your hands? That is absolutely okay. We are also looking for people who can provide social support and connection. This might mean going out alongside the person completing the work, helping to chat with the client, offering companionship, or simply being there to support another volunteer while a job is being done. Sometimes the biggest difference is not just the repair itself, but the human connection that comes with it.

If you are not able to attend jobs in person, there is still a place for you. We always need help with back-office tasks such as replying to emails, documenting donated materials, taking orders, helping with admin, or even just being available to share ideas and encouragement over a coffee with others in the organisation. Every bit of support helps keep the Foundation moving.

We also welcome support from local businesses. Your business may be able to help by donating time, offering transport, providing temporary storage space closer to a project, or making room for materials that volunteers can access when needed. If you already move goods, have unused space, or have quieter periods during the week, there may be practical ways you can support our work without a major disruption to your operations.

There are not just trade roles required here — everyone can help in their own way. Whether you can build, organise, drive, listen, encourage, store, deliver, or simply show up for others, you can be part of creating safer homes and better lives.

Are you passionate about community, sustainability, and long-term impact? We are looking for individuals to join us at a leadership level to help mold and grow the Better Living Foundation.

  • Non-Executive Board Members: We have board seats available for those who want to help guide our strategic direction, governance, and long-term success.

  • Lived Experience: We value perspectives from those who have lived experience with disability, aging, or community housing. Your voice is vital in ensuring our work stays relevant and impactful.

  • Business Brains: If you have experience in law, finance, marketing, logistics, or non-profit management, your expertise can help us build a more efficient and sustainable foundation.

  • Founders & Shapers: Help us refine our processes, build partnerships, and ensure the Foundation remains true to its mission as we scale.

There are no "small" roles here. Whether you’re building a ramp, responding to an enquiry, sharing your professional network, or simply sitting and listening to a senior’s story while a grab rail is being installed—every contribution shapes our foundation and makes a better life possible for someone in your community.
